Finding Clarity When Certainty Is Not Yet Available

Not every period of darkness represents the absence of light. Sometimes it reveals how much we depended upon seeing clearly.

An eclipse is compelling partly because something familiar temporarily appears unfamiliar. The Sun has not disappeared, yet our experience of it changes.

Human transformation can feel similar. During uncertain periods, purpose, direction or confidence may appear obscured. The instinct is often to restore certainty as quickly as possible.

Yet contemplative wisdom suggests another possibility: remain present long enough to discover what uncertainty itself can teach.

Clarity is valuable, but clarity is not always immediately available.

There are periods in life when the next direction cannot yet be seen clearly. We may understand what is ending without knowing what will replace it.

The mind often interprets this absence of certainty as a problem that must be solved quickly.

Yet uncertainty can also become a contemplative space. It asks us to observe more carefully, listen more deeply and distinguish genuine insight from the desire for immediate reassurance.

When we stop demanding that every question be answered at once, subtler forms of understanding can emerge.

Wisdom is not only knowing what to do. Sometimes wisdom is the capacity to remain centred while the larger picture is still revealing itself.
